Hurricane Protection
Citadel Storefront solutions with hurricane protection protect your structure against tropical storms up to and including Category 5 hurricanes. The Citadel system is certified to Dade County code, the gold standard in the hurricane window business.
The Citadel frame is the only design to pass Dade County tests against large missiles at 180 lb psf. Our 10 by 10 foot double door is the first—and only—in the industry to pass the Dade County 15 lb water intrusion test at 100 lb psf (the equivalent to a Category 5 hurricane at ground level) while maintaining full handicap accessibility.
The glazing's internal polycarbonate layer is bonded to the glass with a patented adhesive process to ensure that even if the glazing breaks, every piece of glass—no matter how small—remains locked in place. The glazing is rated by Dade County at 120 lb psf—well above the Category 5 equivalent at ground level.
