The Citadel Storefront Team

Citadel storefront unites three companies—each with its roots in the prior century—to offer integrated window and door solutions that offer robust protection against a wide range of natural and man-made threats.

Survivalite Impact Window Systems manufactures heavy-grade aluminum frames that stand up to the terrifying fury of a Category 5 hurricane. Survivalite’s frame was the first hurricane window certified by Dade County, Florida in the early 1990s. Its frames (3 lb/ft) can be anodized, or ordered in a wide range of colors, using either powder coat or Kynar 500. They permit built-in compensation for out-of-square openings, and can be retrofitted from the inside of the building without using exterior scaffolding.

Commercial Doors International (CDI) manufactures door fenestration products. It offers the only high-impact door in the industry that has passed both tornado and 15-lb water intrusion testing with full handicap accessibility. Each door panel incorporates a full-length piece of glass to maintain the traditional storefront look. Its heavy-duty aluminum doors are individually handcrafted, and can be ordered in single or double configurations up to ten feet tall, in the same color and finish options as the storefront frames.

Saf-Glas Security Solutions has certified its patented glazing technique for hurricane protection, forced entry tests, small arms tests, and explosion testing. Its 9/16-in GlasSteel laminated glass-clad polycarbonate has beaten every other glass it has been tested against. GlasSteel’s patented adhesive forms a permanent bond with the glass. Because each piece, no matter how small, remains attached to the polycarbonate, the entire assembly retains its rigidity.
